Steelers GM Colbert signs 1-year extension

The long time general manager is now under contract through the 2022 draft

Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert is sticking around for at least one more season.

The new deal extents Colbert through the 2022 NFL Draft.

"I am excited to announce that we have extended the contract of Kevin Colbert for an additional year," said Steelers President Art Rooney II on Steelers.com. "Kevin has been instrumental to the success of our franchise over the last two decades, and we are happy to have him continue for another year."

Colbert has stated in the past that he is taking his time with the Steelers year-to-year.

The 64-year-old is entering his 22nd year with the Steelers and has been the team's GM for the past 11 season after spending the previous 11 at the team's director of football operations.

The Pittsburgh native is a Robert Morris graduate and has helped build teams that have gone to three Super Bowls, winning two.

Colbert has worked on one-year contracts since arriving from Detroit in 2000.

"It has been such an honor to be in this position with the Steelers for over 20 years," said Colbert. "I want to thank Art Rooney for his continued support in extending my contract another year. We've been able to accomplish some great things, but my determination to help the Steelers reach our ultimate goal – to win another Super Bowl – has never been greater."
