PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – As first reported by the Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi, quarterback Mason Rudolph is back with the Steelers on a one-year contract. He’s joined by a XFL corner and wide receiver, as the team makes that official today.

Rudolph is expected to make less than the $4 million his cap hit was last season. The 27-year-old Rudolph has started 10 of the 17 games he’s appeared with the Steelers going 5-4-1 with a 61.5% completion for 2,366 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Steelers announced the contract for receiver Hakeem Butler on Wednesday as it was reported earlier this month. The Baltimore native was the Cardinals fourth-round pick out of Iowa State in 2019. He’s huge. Butler is 6’5”, 227 pounds and ran a 4.48 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.  In 10 games with the St. Louis Battlehawks, Butler had 51 catches for 599 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s only played in two NFL games, both with the Eagles in 2020 without a catch.

Butler was a Second-Team All-American his final season at Iowa State breaking the school receiving yards record with 1,318, averaged 22 yards-per-catch, had 10 catches of at least 40 yards and nine of his 60 catches were touchdowns.

The cornerback is 6’1” Luq Barcoo. Named All-XFL after staring with the San Antonio team. The 24-year-old, born in Cleveland, played his first two years of college football at a community college in California before transferring to San Diego State. As a senior he led all of FBS in 2019 with nine interceptions, 25 passes defended and 16 pass breakups and named Third-Team AP All-American, but went undrafted. He would play in three games with the Jags in 2020 and has also been in the Chiefs, Jets, Cardinals and 49ers organizations.

Steelers begin Organized Team Activities on Tuesday.
