PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Hours after losing corner Cam Sutton to an agreed three-year, $33 million contract to Detroit, the Steelers agreed to a two-year contract with a former three-time, first-team All-Pro corner.
32-year-old Patrick Peterson is coming off a tremendous season with Minnesota in 2022. Pro Football Focus has him ranked as a top five coverage corner. He started all 17 games finishing an interception short of leading the league (5) with one shy of a career-high 15 passes defended. Peterson also had a career-high 66 tackles (56 solo) and three tackles for loss.
Peterson was the fifth overall pick of the 2011 draft by the Arizona Cardinals and has 34 career interceptions in 184 games. He's one interception behind Devin McCourty for the most interceptions among active players. The former LSU star is incredibly durable missing only 10 games his entire 12-year career and has never had a year where he played less than 92% of the defensive snaps. He played 1,105 total snaps last season, one shy of a career-high.
Still awaiting the money total for the two-year agreed deal.
