Unlike his brother J.J., T.J. Watt doesn't have a Defensive Player of the Year award to his credit but appears to be on his way to one.
The linebacker continues to dominate on the defensive side of the football and on Thursday was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September for his play in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos.
Watt has 3.5 sacks through three games along with nine tackles, three tackles for a loss and an interception.
One of those sacks came last week against the Houston Texans. The defense buckled down in the second half, not allowing the DeShawn Watson and the Texans to score.
"Just trying to keep him in the pocket anyway we possibly could, we knew coming into this game that he had quarterback mobility, he likes to keep his eyes down the field and keep plays extended," said Watt. "They did a good job of moving him around in the pocket, he did a good job of feeling the rush early on and as the game wore on we were able to make those proper adjustments."
Watt was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his play during the team's 26-21 win against the Broncos.
The Steelers next game will be at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 11. Their game scheduled for this Sunday against the Titans was postponed after several players and staff in Tennessee tested positive for COVID-19.
