The mystery of the pigeons at Acrisure Stadium…explained!

There was another pigeon invasion at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.

A large number of birds descended onto the field during parts of the game against the New Orleans Saints.

They have become good luck birds though. The Steelers are 2-0 when the pigeons are on the field.

The first win with the feathered friends trying to get a better view of the game came in the upset win against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A large flock of birds on the field during the game is a new occurrence.

While the occasional bird has been spotted on the field in the past, what seemed like dozens at the same time is new.

The PM Team did some digging and Andrew Fillipponi says he spoke with the National Aviary, right down the road from Acrisure Stadium.

They tell him the pigeons are enjoying a meal of grass seed.

The Aviary adds the birds are "trying to fill up on food before winter."

Temperatures have been above normal until the past couple of days and grass can germinate and grow at 50 degrees and above.

With temps now in the high 30s, low 40s, that grass will not be growing.
