Tomlin gives George Pickens a full pass on Hail Mary miscue

If something controversial happens on the field during a Steelers game, there is a good chance Head Coach Mike Tomlin missed it.

This time it was the scuffle right after the Hail Mary pass by Russell Wilson at the end of the Browns game involving Steelers wide receiver George Pickens and Browns defensive back Greg Newsome.

The two kept going at each other after the play taking it to the barrier near the stands.

Newsome eventually walked away and Pickens had to be held back.

“I didn’t see the video, I heard about it,” said Tomlin during Tuesday’s later news conference.

Tomlin said that Pickens was the “point man” for the Hail Mary pass. He further clarified what point man means.

“The guy that high-points the football,” added Tomlin.

With Pickens involved in the scuffle more than the play, Tomlin was asked if he was in position to make a play.

“I think (the Browns) actions had something to do with him not being in position to do that,” said Tomlin chuckling after.

As of Tuesday, Tomlin says he hasn’t heard from the NFL on Pickens facing any possible disciplinary action.

Tomlin was also asked about Pickens comments on the Browns not being a good team.

He said that the players are free to speak their minds.
