Tomlin’s confidence in Canada ‘means very little’

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said after Sunday’s 38-3 embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bills that making changes to players and coaches isn’t off the table.

“You play like we did today and you have to be open to doing whatever is required to change the outcome of these games,” Tomlin said.  “That’s a given. I don’t think anybody is going to be surprised by our willingness to turn over whatever stone to change the outcome of games. That’s just appropriate.”

One of those coaches that instantly come to the mind of many is offensive coordinator Matt Canada, especially since the offense has struggled to put up points through the first five games of the season.

For those hoping that Tomlin fires Canada, it doesn’t’ seem like it’s going to happen any time soon.

Speaking during his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Tomlin said, “I’m not changing for the sake of changing, I’m changing if I feel like it produces a better-desired outcome in any area and so, we’re looking at those things, we’re open to those things, but not in an effort to quell the masses or anything of that nature.”

Tomlin added that he’s “confident” in Canada, but that doesn’t mean what you think it does

“Confidence means very little, it’s what’s on tape,” said Tomlin.

Tomlin reiterated his desire to only bring about change if he feels it’s necessary.

“Postgame, I’m just acknowledging given what transpired in that stadium that I’m open to it and I remain open to it, but I don’t intent to change for the sake of changing, to shoot a hostage if you will or anything of that nature,” said Tomlin.

Something needs to change from every aspect of the Steelers game, especially on offense.

The Steelers haven’t score 25 or more points in any game this season. That isn’t going to win you a lot of games.
