Will Howard on injured reserve with another rookie

The 2 players who return to the active roster

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A couple of rookies go on injured reserve to begin the season with a couple of veterans taking their roster spots in a move made official Thursday morning.

A hand injury means sixth-round quarterback Will Howard starts on IR and seventh-round defensive back/returner Donte Kent begins there as well with a lower body injury. Neither would count against the eight short-term injured reserve spots until they would come back. Meaning both could be out for the season or return at some point. Whether they return may only be determined by the number of other injuries the team suffers.

Taking the two roster spots are a couple of players released yesterday, former Ravens and Jets safety Chuck Clark and offensive lineman Max Scharping (who was with the Steelers last year).
