While there isn't a consensus on who the best wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft class is, there is an understanding of who is part of Tier-1; former Alabama teammates Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III, along with former Oklahoma wideout CeeDee Lamb.
In our latest RADIO.COM NFL Mock Draft, all three of the Tier-1 wide receivers are off the board after pick No. 13, which leaves quite a few wide receiver-needy teams on the outside looking in. Fortunately, this is a loaded class at the position.
But what prospect leads Tier-2 at the wide receiver position? That's less clear.
RADIO.COM NFL Insider Brian Baldinger is especially high on former LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
"The best route-runner in the whole draft is Justin Jefferson," Baldinger told Nick Kostos and Ross Tucker on 'You Better You Bet.' "He runs in the 4.4s, he can play inside like he did this last year...he caught 111 balls from Joe Burrow...that's off-the-charts production. But he played outside in the years before. I wouldn't sleep on Justin Jefferson, he's a fantastic player. [He's] worthy of a top-15 pick right now."
In the latest RADIO.COM NFL Mock Draft, Jefferson is selected by the Philadelphia Eagles at pick No. 21. While Jefferson had 111 catches for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns in his junior season at LSU, there has been some thought that Carson Wentz and company would benefit more from adding a receiver with more upside as an outside guy.
Ross Tucker didn't diminish Jefferson's accomplishments, but did note that he believes the aforementioned Jeudy is the best route-runner in this class by a wide margin. Tucker also added that there's a chance that because teams view slot production as so replaceable, that could hurt Jefferson's draft stock.
So who else could fill the void as the best Tier-2 prospect? Tucker is high on TCU's Jalen Reagor.
"He's absolutely electric," Tucker said of Reagor. "People were comparing him to [Henry] Ruggs and to Brandon Aiyuk just in terms of the raw speed and athleticism. He did not run as well as expected at the NFL Combine, but he's a guy that plays a lot faster than Justin Jefferson does. I go by how they play...I go by how fast they play when they're playing football...that seems kind of important. So I really like him."
Reagor has been selected in the late first round in previous mocks, but in our latest RADIO.COM NFL Mock Draft, he falls to the second round. Reagor had a relatively disappointing junior season, but did so after a monster sophomore campaign where he hauled in 72 passes for 1,061 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 14.7 yards per reception.
A personal favorite here is former Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., though a lengthy injury history has made him a more risky selection. Other potential first-round wideouts include Baylor's Denzel Mims, Arizona State's Brandon Aiyuk, Penn State's K.J. Hamler and Clemson's Tee Higgins.
