After taking a couple years off, the Seattle Art Fair is returning to the Lumen Field Event Center this weekend, and it looks like it's going to be great.

The fair runs Thursday through Sunday of this week, and as the official website describes it:

The Seattle Art Fair is a one-of-a-kind destination for the best in modern and contemporary art and a showcase for the vibrant arts community of the Pacific Northwest.

I might be a little biased, because I'm a painter myself (as in art, not houses!) but I love this event, and I'll take an entire day to wander through every gallery, every video presentation, and every edgy installation at the show. Also, the show is huge.

(BTW, you can thank the late Paul Allen for spearheading the fair starting back in 2015.)

The first time I went to the Seattle Art Fair, I was pretty new at my own painting, and I was afraid I might be intimidated or even discouraged, as in, "this stuff is SO good, I don't see how I'll ever be this good."

Well, the opposite happened: I'm probably not as good as these world-class artists, but I left the fair so inspired and full of new ideas after being awestruck by everything I saw. And I'm pretty sure you don't have to be an artist yourself to feel the same way -- I'm betting anyone who gets excited by visual art will appreciate the scope and the magnitude of the work in this show.

You can buy a pass for the entire weekend, or just go for a single-day pass, and everything you need to know about the Seattle Art Fair is on their website, seattleartfair.com. See you there!
