Officials issued an advisory warning of 30 to 45-minute delays at departure airports.
ABC-7 reported that there would be no air traffic controllers beginning at 4:15 p.m. because the workers called out of work due to the government shutdown.
In a post on X, Gov. Gavin Newsom blamed President Trump for the situation, writing that the airport has “ZERO air traffic controllers from 4:15 pm to 10 pm today because of YOUR government shutdown.”
The FAA added that it’s working to bring in more staffing soon.
