Orange County Supervisors have agreed to sign on with Blue Shield for COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
They were told the county's appointment scheduling system, Othena, will “seamlessly interface” with the state scheduling system called "My Turn."

Supervisor Lisa Barlett says that's a big deal saying "Because we have got, like you said, over 1 million people registered on Othena and the thought of now telling them 'you have to re-register and go to another system' is going to be really problematic. So, I can see why you would want to move towards the Blue Shield contract."
The state contracted with Blue Shield with the goal of smoother vaccine distribution efforts.
Orange County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau told Supervisors he and his staff are working with Blue Shield to make the transition easier.
