Two separate acts of attempted election interference were reported in Los Angeles County over the weekend, according to the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

On Sunday morning, election officials noticed that the voter center at Cesar E. Chavez Park had been vandalized; however, officials say action was taken immediately, and the incident did not disrupt voting operations.

In addition, some ballots inside an Official Ballot Drop Box at the Department of Public Social Services-Civic Center in downtown Los Angeles were found with fire damage.

“Preliminary information indicates the incident was isolated and involved a small number of ballots, as it occurred between the most recent scheduled collection and the following morning's retrieval,” according to the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

A police report was filed in that case.

Dean Logan, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, said in the press release that the office would be working with law enforcement to “safeguard the voting process.”

"Any attempt to interfere with voting or election operations is taken seriously,” he said.

Voters who see any suspicious activity involving election materials, election facilities, or voting operations are urged to contact the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk at (800) 815-2666.
