The President of the University of California warned state lawmakers Thursday that fighting the Trump administration in court over proposed penalties for the continued use of DEI and other policies could cost the UC system billions in federal funding.

There’s at least $7 billion in research funding and student aid at risk of being withdrawn,

“You definitely don't bend a knee. You try to fight and fight as often, as much as you can. There's a clear offensive against the state of California and in this case the UC system, and specifically,” Oscar, who works at UCLA, told KNX News’ Pete Demetriou.

However, some students think it’s better to negotiate.

“I think it's good to negotiate, start the negotiations, be open to negotiate, be open to have a conversation and see where it goes and be transparent about the conversations about the negotiations. Just don't say the negotiations happened and it didn't work,” Jack, a UCLA student, said.
