There’s been an increase in bear sightings in Altadena.
KNX News’ Karen Adams reported there is a big bear getting into trash cans, yards, and crawl spaces of homes.
“We have taken a lot of video and pictures of at least one bear in the community that's making its rounds,” Los Angeles County Sheriff's Captain Ethan Marquez said. “It was even across the street last week from our station.”
He recommends that homeowners invest in bear-proof trash cans. Marquez said to keep trash in a garage until collection day, clean barbecue grills, keep pet food inside, and pick up any fruit off the ground from trees.

“If they see the bear in their neighborhood, please call us at the station and we'll come out,” he said.
Wildfire officials said the Eaton Fire, drought conditions, and heat waves are causing the bears to go down the mountain and into neighborhoods. The bears typically look for food, water, and shade.
