The details of the 4-year mega-contract extension that the Eagles signed Carson Wentz to this past week are out.
Here is a breakdown of how Wentz's contract situation will look over the next six years, according to
ESPN's Field Yates:
Signing bonus: $16.3 million
Base salary/roster bonuses:
2019: $720K (no roster bonus)
2020: $1.383 million base salary... $8 million roster bonus
2021: $3.9 million base salary...$10 million roster bonus
2022: $18.5 million base salary...$1 million roster bonus
2023: $18 million base salary...$5 million roster bonus
2024: $21 million base salary...$5 million roster bonus
The contract also, according to ESPN, has incentives and escalators that could add an additional $16 million if reached. Those are likely things like Super Bowl wins, Pro Bowls, etc.
One of the more interesting part of the contracts is the $30 million team option that is in the contract for the 2020 season, which could be an uncapped year.
