There has been plenty of speculation over the recent weeks that 32-year-old quarterback Colin Kaepernick could make a return to the National Football League.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was asked about Kaepernick on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show by Angelo Cataldi.

"I think it's something that if a team or even us were in a situation, we would look at all possibilities and scenarios," Pederson said of Kaeperick. "The one thing you have to keep in mind is he hasn’t played in a couple years. That still doesn't mean he couldn't come in and be a backup and learn your system and do those things for you. It’s not out of the realm or possibility that could happen."

Kaepernick, of course, was the first NFL player to kneel during the National Anthem in 2016, creating a major debate across America. Kaepernick was released before the 2017 season and has not played in the NFL since.

Now, following the death of George Floyd which has captivated America spurring protests against police brutality and for racial equality across the country, many NFL stars including Baker Mayfield and J.J. Watt have spoken out in favor of protesting during the National Anthem in 2020.

"I support players who demonstrate peacefully and stand for something," Pederson told the media on Tuesday morning during a Zoom meeting.

"We have to fix the whys," Pederson continued. "It's part of the whys and trying to understand our players. We are going to have these conversations once we get into camp.

"One of the things as a head football coach that we will continue to do is have discussions in every area. Not only with social injustice, with the anthem but with anything that comes up. Going into my fifth year with this football team, we have been able to have dialogue and conversation. Nothing has been determined."

Carson Wentz released a statement on systemtic racism folling Floyd's death on social media and Pederson talked about that as well.

"I felt just like Carson in what he said and the way he feels," Pederson said. "In reading his statement, I had a lot of similarity and could relate to that message. Carson was the same way, we have to understand the whys and fix the whys and communicate, talk and have dialogue. They are not easy conversations to have but you have to have them. I plan on continuing to have conversations with the guys during camp, obviously during the season just so we can understand."
