Many people believe the Eagles should rest their starters on Saturday night in Week 18 against the Cowboys, as Philadelphia already has a playoff spot locked up.

Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb believes the starters should at play the first half.

"I will say this, barring that are all healthy and they pass the test that they are able to play, I think it's important that they at least play a half," McNabb told Ike Reese and Jon Marks on Monday afternoon. "I know that people say, 'We'll we don't want to risk injury and all that.' Well, you always want to keep the momentum forward. And for this football team, it's not like all the sudden they went 12-2 with games to go, like we did when we ended up going to the championship. This is a team that really is trying to figure things out in all phases of the game and I think if you can play a half and play effectively, that momentum going right into the first round of the playoffs.

Now, if you sit out, are you saying, 'Yeah we're just excited to get in and then we'll see what happens.' It just doesn't work that way when it comes to the NFL and playoffs because the teams that are playing at a high level going into the playoff is usually that team in the first half that is going to make an impression, which if it is a big lead on a team it could become a problem."

The other part of the equation is 12 Eagles players tested positive for COVID-19, potentially keeping them out of Saturday's game anyway.
