Jerry Jones implied the Dallas Cowboys wanted to draft Jalen Hurts in 2020.

"Two years ago we were looking at Philadelphia's quarterback, not going to call any names," Jones said when discussing the Cowboys' recent trade for San Fran 49ers QB Trey Lance. "We were looking at him. Had he fallen to us there, we would have drafted him.

Hurts was the Eagles' second-round pick in 2020, No. 53 overall. The Cowboys took CB Trevon Diggs with their 51st overall selection and then did not pick again until No. 82 when they took DT Neville Gallimore.

The Eagles' selection of Hurts in round two was a controversial one at the time. as they had just give Carson Wentz a big contract to seemingly be the franchise quarterback.

However, now, a few years later and Hurts is one of the league's most promising young quarterbacks and Wentz is not currently on an NFL roster.

The Cowboys acquired former No. 3 overall pick in Lance from the 49ers for a fourth-round pick to backup Dak Prescott.
