(610 Sports) – Patrick Mahomes has deservedly worked his way into some conversations as being one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. The long list of awards and accomplishments he's compiled in just six seasons in the NFL is astonishing. So, it would come as no surprise to hear that a celebrity of a certain status had put Mahomes at the top of their quarterback hierarchy.
Well, that exact scenario played itself out on Wednesday, with a catch.
Former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall asked Mahomes what his thoughts were on being called “the greatest quarterback ever” by none other than Super Bowl LVII halftime performer, Rhianna.
“It makes me feel great. She’s gonna crush it at halftime,” said Mahomes. “I have family members that I think are more excited about the halftime show than they are the game.
“And so whatever Rihanna says is like the gospel, so I’m glad that she went with me for that honor.”
Unknowingly, Mahomes was just moments from a giant letdown at the hands of Marshall.
“She didn’t. She didn’t,” Marshall admitted.
Marshall's admission brought out a collective laugh from media members in attendance, with a blushing Mahomes taking the joke in stride.
“You got me up here smiling,” said Mahomes with a smile.
With so many media obligations during the week, it's nice to see the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback able to relax and have a little bit of fun, even when it's at his expense.
