Arrest made in Derby pizza restaurant arson fire

DERBY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Derby Police arrest a Derby resident in connection what is being called an arson fire at Roseland Apizza.

Police say Jose Guardiano, 27, allegedly set fire to a shed behind the pizzeria around 6:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Thursday evening.

Investigators used surveillance footage in developing Guardiano as a suspect.

Then around 7:00 p.m., police say calls reporting a suspicious man attempting to enter an apartment building on Minerva Street. Police recognized him as the same person who allegedly lit the fire at Roseland’s.

Guardiano is charged with second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace.
