FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Appearing at a forum at the Jackson Laboratory, Governor Ned Lamont announced that 30% of those eligible in the state have received the COVID-19 booster and stressed that all who are eligible should get the vaccine.

As soon as he was eligible, Lamont said he received it.

Pharmacies have a plentiful supply of the booster vaccines, he said.

"Getting the [booster] shot will make the difference as time goes on. I'm hopeful [that] by the end of this year and early next year we get through this flu season, that the vast majority of those that need to get vaccinated do so and those that need the booster will get it," the governor said.

Lamont explained that the state has ordered 100 thousand vaccines for children five to 12 years of age.

"Smaller doses and smaller needles and a different vial. It's a little complicated. One more variable that our doctors have to go through," Lamont said.

The governor also indicated that 90% of state employees have been vaccinated, with 10% opting for testing.
