
HAMDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Hamden Police arrest a teen with bringing a loaded handgun to school on Tuesday.
Police around 1 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the High School after it was learned a 17-year-old student came into possession of a handgun over the weekend.

The student became uncooperative, according to officials, but police diffused the situation and the student cooperated.
During the search, Police found a loaded .45-caliber handgun in the student's backpack.
The teen was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a weapon on school grounds, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace.
The 17-year-old was transported to the juvenile detention center in Bridgeport.
Detectives are assisting with the investigation regarding the
firearm that was seized.
Hamden police say there will be an increased presence at the high school in the days ahead.
School officials will also have a crisis team available for students and staff that have any concerns related to this incident.
