NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Authorities located a North Branford woman that went missing several days ago and pronounced her dead, North Branford and Wethersfield police confirmed Wednesday.
The North Branford Police Department conducted a welfare check on Mary Herbert, 80, on Sunday, March 6 after a family member called concerned that attempts to contact Herbert were unsuccessful for several days.

When officers checked her North Branford residence, they said Herbert was not home and her vehicle was not there.
Authorities issued a silver alert that same day with a description of her and her 2003 Toyota Corolla.
On Tuesday, March 8, Wethersfield police notified Branford authorities that they located the missing vehicle on the Hartford town line in a marshy area, but officers said the vehicle was unoccupied.
Wethersfield PD, Volunteer Firefighters, North Branford PD detectives and Connecticut State Police conducted a search of the surrounding area, but police did not locate Herbert.
Around 8:26 a.m. Wednesday, Wethersfield detectives returned to the area where Herbert's car was located. Detectives conducted a search of the area again, they said, and located Herbert.
The Wethersfield detectives pronounced Herbert dead upon locating her.
According to North Branford and Wethersfield police, it does not appear that any foul play was involved, though North Branford PD continue to investigate.
Both police departments extend their heartfelt sorrow to the Herbert Family.
