Rocky Hill, Conn./WTIC Radio - A report from the state inspector general says two police officers were justified in using deadly force in an incident earlier this year.

Aaron Freeman, 35, died after he opened fire and police returned fire on January 29 in New Haven.

The shooting stemmed from an attempt to serve a search and seizure warrant at an apartment on Grand Street.

Officers from a DEA task force were there to arrest Freeman on narcotics charges.

A Waterbury detective and West Haven police sergeant that who were part of that detail were cleared in the report, which stated they had tried repeatedly to get Freeman to surrender.
