Wallingford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The strike by Pratt and Whitney machinists against the company is over.

On Tuesday, those with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers voted to accept a contract that runs through 2029.

That puts an end to the walkout that began May 5th.

The workers walked following a dispute over job security, wages and retirement benefits.

They'll now see pay increases through the life of the deal.

The workers voted on the new contract at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford after weeks of picketing at the East Hartford and Middletown campuses.

“All Americans should be grateful that Pratt machinists— among our most skilled, dedicated defense workers— are returning to their jobs," said Senator Richard Blumenthal.

“Connecticut’s skilled machinists have a long history of making the most advanced and reliable engines in the world at Pratt & Whitney, right here in East Hartford and Middletown,” said Congressman John Larson.
