Chris Smith, also known as Chris in the Country, joins the Mark Reardon Show to share his continuing recovery after surviving a gunshot wound to the head less than a year ago. Smith was shot in his home after his blind date’s ex broke in, fatally shot her, and attempted the same on Smith. He was left for dead for 13 hours before he was found and taken to a hospital.
“Thanksgiving day, my husband took the call and they told us we needed to rush to St. John's in Illinois, that they didn't know if he was going to make it. He was that bad. So my daughter was at work at DePaul. She met us there and she's like mom, can you go in and see him after the surgery is all over and everything? And I said I have to, I have no choice. He's my son. I got to go in and look at him and it was just, it was horrific,” explained Smith’s mother Sharon Constanza.
Smith said, “I started healing. So, I mean I walk with the cane now…”
