LISTEN: Here's why a 12-year-old boy in Florida ran for fallen Illinois Officer Tyler Timmins

Chad Cartledge, CEO of Running 4 Heros joined the Annie Frey Show to talk about his son, Zechariah’s nonprofit organization. The organization honors the memory of those first responders who have fallen in the line of duty. Zechariah started Running 4 Heros after participating in a Tunnel to Towers 5k. Zechariah decided to run one mile for each first responder who has died in the line of duty after seeing the impact that he had on the widow of the fallen officer whom he represented in that event. To this date, he has run 1042 miles

“He hasn’t allowed any of the outside garbage to stop him from doing what’s right”

Zechariah carries a flag during each run and then gives that flag to the family of the fallen first responder along with a handwritten note. Zechariah most recently honored Pontoon Beach Officer Tyler Timmins, who was killed in the line of duty. To learn more about Runners 4 Heroes or to donate, click here.  Listen to the full interview above
