Governor Parson not expecting to call a special session on crime

Missouri GOP lawmakers want to stop St. Louis and Kansas City from defunding their police budgets. They’re asking Governor Mike Parson to call a special session to address the issue.

Parson told The Marc Cox Morning Show (MCMS) he’s not likely to call a special session on crime. He believes the bulk of the responsibility falls to the mayors. He also notes there are currently thirteen requests for special sessions on issues that could have been addressed during the regular sessions.

The Governor is clear that he does not believe that defunding the police is the answer and that we need more officers, not fewer.

Parson also told the MCMS that, pending legality, he expects to sign the Second Amendment Protection Act (SAPA), among other legislation.
