ST. CHARLES COUNTY (97.1 FM TALK) - Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft announced an investigation discovered two individuals who allegedly voted more than once in the 2020 general elections.

A probably cause statement claims the two individuals are from St. Charles County and each sent mail-in ballots to Florida, and then voted in-person in Missouri.

“Elections can come down to one vote,” Ashcroft said. “Election fraud is not acceptable and will not be tolerated in the state of Missouri.”

The punishment, if convicted, is up to five years in prison and/or $10,000 fine.

Ashcroft says they are confident these were isolated incidents and are not indicative of problems with Missouri elections. He believes there is a greater possibility of voter fraud when in-person paper ballots are not used.

In December, Attorney General William Barr stated the U.S. Justice Department has uncovered no evidence of widespread voter fraud that could change the outcome of the 2020 election.
