Missouri AG Schmitt taking municipalities to court over COVID mandates and winning

It seems like no matter where you go, you have orders and mandates flying at you from every direction.  Government officials are ever encroaching on your life, exerting more and more controls over how you live, and it’s all done in the name of public safety. Maybe you even think some of the heath measures are a good idea, but it just doesn’t seem right that a government official should be forcing people to comply with them via mandates. Especially if those same officials do not share their evidence that such measures are necessary.

“That is the best evidence you could have about the mentality of these petty tyrants like Sam Page. They are never going to let this go," says Attorney General Eric Schmitt.

Attorney General Schmitt has been pushing back on this type of government overreach and he has been winning in court. For Schmitt it’s really not a matter of the efficacy of mandates, rather it is an issue of personal liberty and accountability. Although he does acknowledge that the virus is real and that the Delta variant is more contagious. People should take it seriously but they ought to be able to make their own decisions. Schmitt sees his role as Attorney General as one that stands up for the citizen and that is why he has been fighting the mandates in court.

“They are not going to let it go, at least not willingly," says Schmitt.
