Dean Plocher, Speaker of the Missouri House, calls in to discuss why he is getting into the GOP race for Lt. Governor with Mark Reardon.
“I've enjoyed serving for eight years and I think we've done a lot of good things in the House that I hope to carry over as Lieutenant Governor. I just announced yesterday that I'll be formally running for Lieutenant Governor and I'm excited to get started,” shared Speaker Plocher.
He continued, “We've accomplished a lot of things in Missouri. So, we're probably the strongest pro-life state in the country, right? We've cut taxes for social security, and in fact, once you start collecting social security, you no longer have to pay your taxes. I think that's important for our seniors. We've done a lot of good things with the No Patient Left Alone Act. That's not a very popular thing, but it gives you the right to have an advocate when you're in the hospital. It was a response to COVID for all those people that had to suffer while having COVID and had to FaceTime, their loved ones in their last moment. So we gave them an advocate.”
“We have a lot of camaraderie in the House. Teamwork. We work together. We don't always agree, but we work together, and we compromise, and I think that's what the taxpayers want. They want government to work for them and to work through the difficult things that we have to do,” Plocher shared on the state of the Missouri House of Representatives.
