Missouri State Rep proposes gas-tax rollback and 'provide some relief at the pump'

Missouri State Rep Sara Walsh joined Marc Cox to detail her proposal to roll back the states incremental gas-tax increase which was just passed into law last year. When fully-implemented in 2025, the tax tops out at 12.5 cents a gallon.

She pre-filed the legislation, House Bill 1594, in December, and tells Marc it, "would repeal the unconstitutionally passed gas tax increase that was part of Senate bill 262 last session."

Walsh points to the $7-billion coming from the Federal Government over the next five years, "as well as about the same amount in state revenue," making the tax unnecessary in her eyes.

"The reality is we've got the revenue situation at this time, we're in good shape and again, let's provide some relief at the pump for Missourians that are struggling," says Walsh.

Walsh is planning a rally on March 9 at the Missouri State Capitol:

Walsh is running for Congress to replace Vicky Hartzler's 4th Congressional seat, but with the redistricting process still in progress, its uncertain if Walsh's home will still be in the district once the new district boundaries are set. Hartzler is running for Senate to replace Roy Blunt.
