'The Sopranos' cast then and now

Many fans still hail "The Sopranos" as the best show of TV history, citing its impact on HBO and the entire world of prestige television that followed the "end" of the story in 2007.

The show boosted the careers of many of its actors and made a few like James Gandolfini and Edie Falco into household names. Some of the stars, like Gandolfini and this week Joseph Siravo, have passed away since the series ended, but they left large impacts on entertainment and culture. James Gandolfini

After picking up three Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Golden Globe for his role as Tony Soprano, Gandolfini went on to star in a number of tense psychological dramas, including "The Last Castle" and the remake of "The Taking of Pelham 123," as well as some more lighthearted pictures like "Enough Said."

Edie Falco

It's hard to decide which of Edie Falco's biggest roles was more iconic: Carmela Soprano or Jackie Peyton on "Nurse Jackie," in which she starred from 2009 to 2015. She has also appeared in several other TV shows since "The Sopranos," including the 2021 season of "American Crime Story."

Lorraine Bracco

Lorraine Bracco was a natural for "The Sopranos" after her starring role in "Goodfellas," though her later roles saw her behind the shield, with starring appearances in police dramas like "Rizzoli & Isles" and "Blue Bloods."

Michael Imperioli

Another "Goodfellas" vet, Michael Imperioli was fantastic as Tony's protégé Christopher Moltisanti, before he too joined "Blue Bloods." He has also recently starred in "Watchmen" and "One Night in Miami…"

Robert Iler

Robert Iler, who played A.J. Soprano, left his acting career behind after "The Sopranos," though he can be found today on his podcast, "Pajama Pants," with co-star Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler

Sigler has been slightly more active than Robert Iler since leaving behind her role of Meadow Soprano, doing some voice work on shows like "Elena of Avalor" in addition to the podcast hosting.

Dominic Chianese

Junior, played by Dominic Chianese, brought some gangster acting bonafides to the show, having Johnny Ola in "Godfather Part II." More recently Chianese appeared on several seasons of "The Good Wife."

Steven Van Zandt

Though originally known as a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, rocker Steven Van Zandt has a thing for mobster stories. He went on from a long run on "The Sopranos" to produce and star in his own mob series, "Lilyhammer," along with an appearance in 2019's "The Irishman."

Vincent Pastore

After playing Salvatore Bonpensiero, Vincent Pastore has had a varied career, appearing as an entrepreneur on "Shark Tank" and on other reality TV shows, hosted "The Wiseguy Show" produced by Steven Van Zandt, and even launched his own pasta sauce.

Tony Sirico

Yet another "Goodfellas" alum, Tony Sirico went on from his role as Paulie Gualtieri to voice several cartoon mobsters on shows like "Family Guy" and "American Dad!" and appear in several Woody Allen movies like "Café Society" and "Wonderwheel."

Drea de Matteo went from one crime world to another, jumping from playing Adriana La Cerva on "The Sopranos" to Wendy Case on "Sons of Anarchy." From there she continued to a few indie films and other TV series.
