Growing up here in San Diego County, I’ve always known how important it is to make the most of our water supplies. We only get about 10 inches of rain a year, but we rely on water for almost everything we do. From sustaining world-famous tourist destinations to making world-class guitars, the San Diego lifestyle wouldn’t be possible without clean and reliable water supplies.

That’s why I’ve joined with the San Diego County Water Authority and its 24 member agencies to support investments in water supply reliability so that we can continue to enjoy everything we love about San Diego. Last year, I took a tour of the water infrastructure projects that we’ve built throughout the region – and I was blown away.

These facilities help ensure we have water supplies for our communities and businesses now and in the future. In fact, the Olivenhain Reservoir and Dam are part of the Emergency & Carryover Storage Project, which is crucial in case we’re cut off from our imported water supplies. I also toured the Water Conservation Garden in El Cajon, which offers an incredible array of ideas to make the most of our water supplies while enjoying beautiful WaterSmart landscapes. Check out video highlights of my countywide tour here.
