After Chris Paddack worked a scoreless top of the first inning, Fernando Tatis Jr. stepped in the box against David Hess and jumped on the first pitch he saw, and deposited it over the left field fence for his 18th homer of the season. The very next pitch, Franmil Reyes made it back to back home runs as the Padres quickly took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning.

Three batters later it was then Luis Urias turn to put one over the fence as he ripped one into the Petco porch in right field to make it a 5-1 lead after 4 innings.
