Who would have thought that the University of Alabama would contribute to SDSU Men’s basketball history?
Nick Saban, scratch that, the Crimson Tide hoops team defeated the number four-ranked Auburn Tigers 83-64 at home Wednesday evening, handing War "Damn" Eagle their first loss of the season (15-1) (3-1 in SEC play).
And then there was one: San Diego State University (18-0).

January 16, 2020 In the last 48 hours, number-two ranked Duke lost to Clemson on the road, 'Bama spanked Auburn, Seton Hall raided the #5 ranked Butler Bulldogs, and no.6 Kansas is still dealing with a fresh loss to Baylor in Lawrence this weekend. What does all of this hodge-podge mean?
Our beloved, seventh-ranked Aztecs, outside of a cataclysmic event, are assuredly favored to climb inside of the top three rankings in the Associated Press poll.
Brian Dutcher’s squad is off to their best start to the season since the mythical presence of Kawhi Leonard during the 2010-11 campaign when they began the season (20-0), finished the year (34-3), and made a trip to the Sweet Sixteen during March Madness, before falling to a young Kemba Walker-led Connecticut team, 74-67.
Oh yeah, on Saturday, February 1st, Kawhi will etch his name in Aztec Mortality. He will do so by having his number 15 jersey retired and hung in the Viejas Arena rafters, becoming the first player to have his jersey retired in school history.

January 15, 2020 Leonard has a three-hour work shift at the Staples Center at 12:30 pm that day but once he clocks out versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, he will make his way on the "5-South" and make an appearance that day to see his alma mater take on the Utah State Aggies at 7 pm and be honored at halftime.
What a time for Aztec Nation!
