We’re still a few months away from football season, but the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels did their best impressions on Sunday afternoon. The two sides engaged in quite the benches-clearing brawl that took the baseball world by storm.

The dust has settled and suspensions have been handed out, but it’s still being talked about. Cody Decker and Audacy Sports MLB Insider Jon Heyman opened this week’s episode of Big Time Baseball by discussing the basebrawl.

“There was some funny stuff. I don’t like to encourage brawls, but it was quite amusing and somewhat entertaining. I gotta say this was a little bit different,” Heyman said (2:00 in player above).

“Both teams not really in any playoff hunt,” Decker said. “I almost liked it because it seemed like these two teams who, I think a lot of people including myself were really excited to see this year, have been without a pulse all season. Seeing either team actually finally show some passion, I found to be kind of encouraging, actually.”

“I’m glad that you saw the positive,” Heyman laughed.

Heyman was amused by Angels Spanish interpreter Manny Del Campo being among the long list of suspensions. He also enjoyed Raisel Iglesias’ antics.

“The guy’s got a great arm but he tried to throw them across the diamond, couldn’t quite make it. That was something else as well.” Heyman continued.

“It was amusing. Like I said, I don’t want to encourage it, but this was one of the most entertaining brawls I’ve seen.”
