Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey exited Thursday's game against the Utah Jazz when he appeared to suffer a head injury after falling hard to the floor on a drive to the basket.

The second-year standout was on the ground for the duration of a full trip down to the Sixers' end of the floor and back before a timeout could be called and he was tended to by medical staff.
During the scary scene, Maxey, 21, appeared dazed and seemed to bend his arms in such a way that would indicate the fencing response, a symptom of brain injury commonly seen in concussed athletes.

Thankfully, Maxey appeared to be OK when he was getting to his feet, talking and even joking with teammates and team trainers. Cameras showed him walking to the locker room -- where he was presumably examined for concussion symptoms -- under his own power.
But incredibly, and to the concern of many on Basketball Twitter, Maxey made his return to the game after only a brief visit to the locker room.
Upon Maxey's announced return to the game, the Sixers fans at Wells-Fargo Center gave him a loud cheer.
The Kentucky product has endeared himself to Sixers supporters with his all-out style of play, which was on full display when he dove headlong for a loose ball along the baseline in the second half.
Maxey finished with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting in 26 minutes. The Jazz pulled away in the second half for a comfortable 22-point victory.
