Herschel Walker is officially running for Senate.

The former NFL star and Heisman Trophy winner has filed the paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission on Tuesday to run for U.S. Senate in the state of Georgia against Democrat Raphael Warnock, according to TMZ Sports.

Walker, 59, is a Republican and ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump, whom the former running back is likely to garner an endorsement from as well.

The two have a longstanding relationship since Walker played for Trump’s USFL team, the New Jersey Generals, from 1983-85. He also appeared on Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2009, although was “fired” in the eighth episode, and made a speech at the Republican National Convention last August.

Trump even teased a potential Senate run from Walker in March, saying he would be “unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL.”

Walker, whose NFL career spanned with the Cowboys, Vikings, Eagles and Giants, will be one of five Republicans looking to get the nomination to try and unseat Warnock in 2022.

Warnock won the seat in a run-off election in January with 51% of the popular vote to become the first Black senator from Georgia.
