The first domino in what should be a few big-time changes from the Eagles this offseason has fallen.
According to multiple reports Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has decided to let his contract expire at the end of this season and will potentially take a year off from coaching.
Schwartz has been a coordinator or head coach in the NFL since 2001, and has been with the Eagles since 2016.
Chances are this was likely a mutual parting between the two sides. Big changes are coming for the Eagles this offseason and Schwartz was almost certainly going to be one of them. Schwartz also likely wanted out and him taking a year off from coaching isn't overly surprising considering how long he has been in the league.
For the Eagles this means they will be in the market for a new defensive coordinator this offseason.
Although it is possible they promote from within, the chances of an entire new coaching staff on the sidelines for the 2021 season are already high, so it is more than likely they hire a new coordinator from another staff.
We will start to get more answers who is staying and who is going on Monday when the team's season comes to an official end.
