The Padres beat the Braves 5-2 on Wednesday to secure a 3-game sweep of the NL East leading Braves. JP Sears made his season debut for the Padres and pitched admirably, allowing 2 earned runs in 5.2 innings of work, providing much-needed length on a night when several of the Padres' relievers were unavailable. Ty France had a big game, driving in 2 runs including a solo home run to put the Padres on the board with a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning. With the Braves trailing 3-0, Joey Bart hit a 2-run home run in the 6th inning to make it a 3-2 game, but Samad Taylor's 2-run single in the bottom of the 6th inning gave the Padres a 3-run cushion. David Morgan, Wandy Peralta and Jason Adam combined for 3.1 scoreless innings, with Adam nailing down the save with Mason Miller unavailable. The Padres will enjoy a day off on Thursday before the Dodgers arrive on Friday for a 3-game series.
