The Padres beat the Pirates 4-2 in 10 innings on Sunday to win their series against Pittsburgh 2-1 and their 6-game homestand with a 3-3 record. MacKenzie Gore was brilliant, striking out 9 Pirates over 7 shutout innings. Jurickson Profar put the Padres on top in the 5th inning with a 2-run home run that would hold until the 8th inning. Nabil Crismatt wasn't able to hold that 2-run lead, as Pittsburgh tied the game with an RBI-double from Ke'Bryan Hayes and an RBI-single from Josh VanMeter. Things got interesting in the 10th inning. With a runner on 3rd and 2 outs in the top half, a pitch from Luis Garcia got by Jorge Alfaro, who was able to scoop up the ball and dive back to home plate and tag the runner who was darting home from third base to save a run and end the inning. In the bottom half of the 10th, Trent Grisham blasted a walkoff 2-run home run that hit off of the foul pole to send the Padres home as winners. San Diego now hits the road for a 7-game roadtrip against the Cardinals and Brewers.
