Padres lose 2-0 to Braves

Ryan Weathers

The Padres were shutout for the second consecutive game on Monday night, losing 2-0 to the Braves in the series opener. Ryan Weathers was hit hard in the first inning, giving up a double to Ronald Acuna on the first pitch of the game, and a 2-run homer to Austin Riley later in the inning. But Weathers would settle down, and earn a quality start, allowing just those 2 runs over 6 innings of work. Those 2 runs would end up being the only runs scored in the entire game, as Max Fried needed just 79 pitches to hurl 5 scoreless innings in his return from the IL. Both bullpens kept their opponents off the scoreboard as well, with the final score standing at 2-0. The Padres bats will look to come alive on Tuesday in Game 2 against the Braves.
