The Padres lost a heartbreaker to the Cardinals on Wednesday, losing on Tommy Edman's 2-out 2-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Rich Hill was staked an early 3-0 lead and pitched 3 scoreless innings, but Jordan Walker blasted a game-tying 3-run homer in the 4th inning. Juan Soto delivered the go-ahead run on 2-out single in the 7th. Josh Hader came in with a 1-run lead in the 9th inning, and after retiring the first two hitters of the inning, rookie Masyn Winn hit a double with an 0-2 count to extend the game. The very next batter was Tommy Edman, who hit an opposite field 2-run walk-off home run to steal a series win from the Padres. The Padres now return home for a 7 game homestand against the Giants and Phillies.
