The Padres lost the series finale against the Tigers 3-1 on Sunday, ending their road trip with a 5-5 record. Joe Musgrove earned his 8th consecutive quality start, allowing 3 runs over 6 innings, but the Padres were cold, as they could only muster 1 run on 3 hits. Despite the lack of offense, the Padres found themselves in position to tie the game, or even take the lead in the 9th inning. After the first two batters of the inning were retired, Xander Bogaerts drew a walk and Jake Cronenworth reached base on a fielding error by Javy Baez. With the tying run on base and the go-ahead run represented by Gary Sanchez at the plate, Sanchez worked a 7-pitch at-bat, but unfortunately flew out to center field to end the game. The Padres will now return home to begin a 3-game series against the Pirates on Monday.
