The Padres lost to the Rangers 7-4 on Saturday night, as Stephen Kolek's struggles at home continued. The converted reliever allowed 6 earned runs on 9 hits and a walk while striking out just 2 batters in 5.1 frames. Former Padres catcher Kyle Higashioka had a huge night for Texas, driving in 5 runs, including 2 on a home run to left field in the 3rd inning to put the Rangers back on top 3-2. San Diego's struggles with runners in scoring position continued, with the Padres going just 1-6, while the Rangers hit 3-7 with RISP. Trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the 9th, the Padres were able to bring the go-ahead run to the plate, loading the bases and forcing Bruce Bochy to remove his left-handed closer Robert Garcia with Xander Bogaerts coming to the plate. Shawn Armstrong entered the game, and got Bogaerts to ground out to third base to end the game. The Padres will try to take the series against Texas with a win on Saturday.
