The Padres on Tuesday bolstered both their offense and pitching, adding 1B/DH Ji Man Choi and LHP Rich Hill in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Choi has a .731 OPS with 6 home runs, while Hill has a 4.76 ERA with 104 strikeouts on the season.
UPDATE: The Padres announced their deals for Royals reliever Scott Barlow and Marlins 1B/OF Garrett Cooper. Ryan Weathers was sent to Miami in the Cooper deal, while Jesus Rio and Henry Williams went to KC for Barlow, who has another year of contractual control beyond this season. Brandon Dixon was designated for assignment to make room for Scott Barlow on the 26-man roster.
