The Padres rallied back from a 4-1 deficit to beat the Pirates 6-4 on Sunday afternoon and earn their third consecutive series win. Randy Vasquez struggled, allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in just 3.1 innings of work. Gavin Sheets exited the game in in the 4th inning after running into the left field wall very hard on Adam Frazier's home run. Mike Shildt said after the game he suffered injuries to his head, hip, wrist and thumb. Jackson Merrill's RBI-double in the bottom of the 6th made it a 4-2 game. Then, in the bottom of the 7th, Elias Diaz hit drove in a run with a pinch-hit RBI-single. Luis Arraez tied the game on an RBI-single of his own, and Manny Machado gave the Padres a 5-4 lead on a very deep sacrifice fly to center field that was nearly a grand slam. Tyler Wade's infield single ricocheted off of Caleb Ferguson, who wasn't able to find the ball, allowing Wade to reach base safely and Tatis to score the team's 6th run. Jason Adam and Robert Suarez each fired a scoreless inning to give the Padres a 6-4 lead. The Padres will now hit the road and begin a series against the Giants in San Francisco on Monday.
