The Padres lost again to the Dodgers on Saturday night in a game they trailed from the start. Fernando Tatis Jr. led off the game with a single, but was then thrown out stealing second, which may have cost the Padres a run as Luis Arraez followed with a ground rule double. Manny Machado then reached on an infield single, but Blake Snell got out of the jam without allowing a run. In the bottom of the 1st, Dylan Cease walked the first three batters he faced, and the Dodgers capitalized, scoring three runs in the 1st. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Jackson Merrill dropped a deep fly ball with two outs that would have ended the inning, but instead allowed two more runs to score, and that seemed to be the nail in the coffin. The Padres totaled 6 hits and never really threatened in this game, as the Dodgers coasted to a 6-0 win on Saturday night, securing a series win. The Padres will look to avoid the sweep with a win on Sunday that would keep them tied atop the NL West with the Dodgers.
